***IRON HORSES GAME SUMMARY AND RESULTS***

Friday March 27
10:50am: O'Leary 1 vs. North River Iron Horses 8
The Iron Horses defeated O'Leary in their first game of the North River tournament. The boys played their positions well and were solid on puck movement. The Iron Horses applied a great deal of pressure in the offensive zone which showed on the scoreboard.

Congratulations to Tyler Wood on being awarded "Player of the Game" for North River!!!

4:40pm: North River Iron Horses 7 vs. Summerside 3
In their second game of the tournament, the Iron Horses met a talented Summerside team who played a fast and hard game. The boys were able to keep Summerside scoreless in the first period, but allowed 3 goals in the second period after losing a bit of momentum. The Iron Horses drove the net hard in the third period and were able to create the momentum necessary to win the game.

Congratulations to Blake Gallant on being awarded "Player of the Game" for North River!!!

Saturday, March 28

3:30pm: North River Iron Horses 3 vs. Hampton 1
The Iron Horses played their third game of the tournament against a very talented Hampton team from New Brunswick. The boys drove hard every shift and stayed focused on the job at hand. The Iron Horses secured the victory with a 3-1 finish, and worked their hearts out for each goal. Iron Horses had 30 shots against Hampton's 10 which means the opposing netminder had a phenomenal game. But when you peel back the defence, our goalies matched play and showed up tonight to win this game. An awesome performance Iron Horses-the best game yet!

Congratulations to Matthew Dooks on being awarded "Player of the Game" for North River!!!

IRON HORSES SUMMERSIDE TOURNAMENT CHAMPS!!!

North River Iron Horses defeat Sherwood in Championship game to become the

2009 SUMMERSIDE INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS!

The Iron Horses arrived in Summerside on Saturday for the Summerside Atom Tournament and had a busy schedule. The Iron Horses second scheduled game was against the fast and furious Tignish team whom the Horses played a week earlier at the Provincials. Both teams played their hearts out every minute and the Iron Horses were able to secure the go-ahead goal in the final minute of the game and maintained the lead for the win.

The Iron Horses met Capital Division rivals Sherwood Black in the championship game. The boys were struck with "deja vu" having lost a hard fought 16 minute OT battle against Sherwood at the George Trainer tournament in December. Sherwood showed their resilience and matched the Horses' play throughout the first period, however the Iron Horses never lost focus and played their hearts out to the end when the final buzzer echoed throughout the Credit Union Place Stadium as the boys jumped the bench to celebrate their championship victory!

A special CONGRATULATIONS Iron Horses for a fantastic effort out there-enjoy your accomplishment tonight and remember-the greatest victories are the ones you have to work the hardest for!!!

One down and two to go: the North River Banner this weekend and the SEDMHA Banner in 2 weeks!
